A Clump Of Bubblegum

#107. Another commissioned piece for the lovely Anne!

Only a few weeks after she received her first piece - A Clump Of Striped Marble!

She wanted a piece that's in a neutral shade again. I know she wears a lot of that so I thought she might like to add little hints of colours this time.

I found this really pretty fabric in a medium taupe with bubblegummy running stitches woven through it and sent a photo sample to her.

She emailed her approval, I got to work and she received her new Clump two days ago.

Another joyous collaboration! Thank you, Anne, for making it such a hassle-free project.

I hope you love the Bubblegum as much as the Striped Marble!

A Clump Of Chaldedony Poppies

#92.

Another piece that is not for sale.

After frantically sewing soooo many pieces for The Finders Keepers Markets this weekend, I think I deserve to keep a piece for myself.

Made myself a pair of matching happy New Ears too.

Cut from the same piece of fabric - Annamoa by Lotta Kuhlhorn for Ikea - as those that I made for Ms Carpet so we can play "twins". Tee hee hee.

Dainty Bullets Of Ruby Berries

#91.

It's not for sale.

I made it for my pal Ms Carpet who has kindly agreed to help me out again both tomorrow and Saturday at the Finder Keepers Markets.

And of course she has to have a pair of The Empress Dowager's New Ears to match her New Jewels!

A pair of mini bunny ears! Smaller than the usual ones.

They are her wage for the two days. And also our uniform. Tee hee hee.

Again, cut from this cute piece of Annamoa by Lotta Kuhlhorn for Ikea.

The Ultimate Galaxy Of Cartoon Gems (SOLD)

#88.

The last of five pieces made with Marge Simpson in mind.

I've always the admire Marge's necklace, something that I've not seen her without.

In fact, it's one of the things that inspired me to make The Empress Dowager's New Jewels from the start. It's a very simple strand of round things yet it completes her look. Just imagine her without it.

When my pal Ms Carpet kindly gave me her off-cuts of this piece of Ikea soft furnishings fabric, I thought they'd make great necklaces for Marge - happy and cartoony and in the Simpsons' colours. And it's how I would draw gems, I think, if I had to for cartoons.

The rest of The Empress Dowager's New Jewels "Cartoon Collection" are here, here, here and here. I hope you'll like them as much as I've enjoyed making them.

SOLD!

A Clump Of Acid Brights (SOLD)

#64.

When I saw the bale of this old Ksubi print from 2004 at the fabric warehouse, I knew I had to take some of it home.

It's just so wonderfully colourful! Slightly mad. And caused me a bit of a headache when I looked at it too much when cutting the "gems".

I hope you'll like its happy madness too.

A Clump Of Bubble Baubles (SOLD)

#57.

Back to some colours. After the last few in neutral tones.

My first piece in polka dots!

From a piece of 100% cotton meant for kids' clothes, according to the lady at the haberdashery.

I like it. The multi-coloured dottiness makes me happy.

And they cause a riot on the ruched side. Yay!

A Trail Of Yellow Sapphire Tweets (SOLD)

#53.

Another happy birdy piece.

Cut from textile designer Lotta Kuhlhorn's "Annamoa".

Cheery and gay against crispy Summer whites. I like!

SOLD!

A Galaxy Of Turquoise Birdsong (SOLD)

#52.

Loving the retro feel in the colours and stripes. Very tempted to keep this one for myself. Again. *smacks wrist*

From the same piece of fabric by Lotta Kuhlhorn. Like #51.

Looks pretty good on the reverse too.

SOLD!

A Galaxy Of 70s' Gems (SOLD)

#51.

A Galaxy Of 70s' Gems because the piece of fabric that it's made from reminds me of the advertising posters for government-led campaigns in Singapore from that era - the colours and the style of illustration.

Another brilliant piece of textile by Lotta Kuhlhorn!

I've completed two pieces featuring the birds which I'll be putting up soon.

The ruched back of the necklace - loving the combination of ultra-bright and muted shades.

And worn long here. See the cute little pink boat? Tee hee hee.

SOLD!

A Clump Of Jungle Gems (SOLD)

#47.

Again from the mad mad piece of Saralisa by Cilla Ramnek.

The last one for now. A few more pieces from another length of fabric coming up soon.

Not playing favourites but if I have to pick one out of the four (see the previous three here, here and here), I'll pick this Clump Of Jungle Gems.

But I can't keep every piece that I love...

SOLD!

A Galaxy Of All The Gems In The World

#39.

Yes, I know I said I wasn't going to keep any pieces for myself until I've got the shop stocked to the max but I just couldn't resist this piece with all the colours of the rainbow.

But don't you worry for I've got quite a bit of this happy fabric - Fredrika by Helen Trast.

Keep checking back here!

Alright, got to go sew now. x
